Chancellor Olaf Scholz: Chancellor visits DFB players after the final

Olaf Scholz (64) and colleagues from politics supported the German national soccer players in the stands at the European Championship final in England. Together with his wife Britta Ernst (61), the Chancellor was a guest at London's Wembley Stadium. Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (52) and Bundestag President Bärbel Bas (54) also kept their fingers crossed in the stands.

After the defeat against hosts England (1:2 after extra time), he visited the DFB team in the dressing room. According to media reports, he is said to have expressed his respect for the team there - and promised that he would work for the future of women's football. The official Twitter account of the DFB women posted a picture of the chancellor's flying visit.

Olaf Scholz also congratulated the team via Twitter. "It was a thrilling tournament and the whole of Germany is proud of this team!" he wrote, among other things.

Nancy Faeser also posted a photo on Twitter posing with the players. Under her blazer, the interior minister wears a shirt worn by goalkeeper Merle Frohms (27). "I was just able to congratulate the DFB women after the game on being runners-up in the European Championship," she wrote. We've seen top-flight football throughout the Euro. And next year the World Cup is already waiting"
