Comedian Guillaume Bats is dead

Comedian Guillaume Bats died Thursday, June 1 at the age of 36, his producer announced on Friday.

"We don't have the words, but a huge emptiness is already present in our hearts," writes the Dark Smile Productions team on the Facebook page of the artist, who suffered from osteogenesis imperfecta (or "disease of the glass bones"). The circumstances of the artist's death remain unknown at this stage, the company said in its message.

This expert in self-mockery was on tour to present his new solo, titled Inchallah. "Notre-Dame burned, not him!" The funniest gargoyle in Paris comes down from the cathedral to once again go on stage and play his new show while repairs are being made,” he said on his website.

Corrosive humor

Born in Reims in 1987, Guillaume Bats had revealed a difficult life course: abandoned by his mother before his first birthday, he had spent a large part of his childhood between an orphanage and foster families.

According to Dark Smile Productions, the artist began sketching sketches in the late 2000s before gaining notice for his caustic humor on the Internet and on television shows, such as "On n'demande qu'à en Laugh, by Laurent Ruquier.

Produced by Jérémy Ferrari and Eric Antoine, Guillaume Bats has toured several times in France, notably performing at the 2016 and 2017 editions of the Avignon "off" Festival.

Several comedians reacted to the disappearance of Guillaume Bats. "We told you, 'That's impossible. Look at yourself, finally” You made it. You made whole rooms laugh. Self-mockery and black humor so as not to cry. You have helped thousands of people to accept themselves. Goodbye, Guillaume Bats,” greeted comedian Anne Roumanoff on Twitter.

"It's never fun to lose someone funny, especially when it was an 8th dan of self-mockery. RIP in peace the G,” reacted comedian Pablo Mira on Instagram.

“Rest in peace my @guillaume_bats I will miss our disabled vs black valve battles. You were the king of self-mockery and “We can laugh at anything and fuck you!” tweeted actor and comedian Donel Jack’sman.
