Corded and Cordless: These vacuum cleaners do a good job

Some people can relax while vacuuming. For others, this is more of a chore. It is therefore all the more important that the device performs well so that the effort is not wasted. Warentest reveals which devices are really clean.

If you like to be on the move or don't trust artificial intelligence, you can ignore the vacuum robot, lend a hand yourself and tackle dust and crumbs with the vacuum cleaner. It's available as a device with a cable or without a tripping hazard, with a battery.

In exactly these two segments, the Stiftung Warentest once again looked at what the devices are good for. Eight cordless handheld vacuum cleaners and six corded vacuum cleaners had to prove themselves on the test bench. At prices between 92 and 740 euros. The following test criteria were taken into account:

Many models are so powerful that it is difficult to move forward on the carpet at home with them at full power. That is why the test candidates no longer complete the most important suction tests at full power. Instead, the testers reduced their power so that they can be pushed with a maximum of 35 Newtons without much effort.

And how did it go? In the study, many vacuum cleaners with a cable assert themselves as reliable workhorses. Cordless vacuum cleaners couldn't keep up for a long time. In the current test, however, individual cordless vacuum cleaners were convincing with top cleaning results.

Two cable vacuum cleaners do their job "well": namely the "Bosch BGC41XSIL" for 275 euros and the "Miele Boost CX1 Allergy SNCF0" (279 euros). If you only need the vacuum cleaner for hard floors, you can get away with the loud "Philips 3000" ("satisfactory", grade 2.6) for a lot cheaper (119 euros). None of the cable vacuum cleaners was rated worse than "satisfactory". This also applies to the cheapest model in the test, the "Bissell Smart Clean" for 92 euros.

In the cordless vacuum cleaners, only the "Bosch BSS825CARP" scores "good". However, 600 euros for the device is not exactly cheap. The loser in the test is the wireless "Xiaomi Mi Vacuum Cleaner Light MJWXCQO3DY". Although it is cheap at around 110 euros, it sucks so badly that it is only enough for a "poor".
