Summer is here and it's really getting going these days. Now a refreshing breeze is required. Those unprepared for the heat can consider purchasing a fan. Warentest has been blown through and made some recommendations.
It is summer. Wonderful. But since there is always something to complain about, some find it too hot to sleep at night and too warm to move during the day. With the temperatures now to be expected, it should be a little too warm even for die-hard sun worshipers. It's good to be able to cool down with a fan now. It refreshes more sustainably and cheaper than air conditioning and uses less electricity.
Although fans cannot lower the room temperature like an air conditioner, they still provide cooling. By moving the warm indoor air, they create a feeling of coldness on the skin. Sweat evaporates faster in the air flow than without wind, heat is better dissipated from the body.
Stiftung Warentest once again acted with foresight in April and examined 20 fans for the required cooling. These include 6 table, 8 standing and 6 tower devices at prices between 25 and 170 euros.
Result: Half of the devices generate a pleasant air flow. Several fans are quite noisy when running, and some are difficult to assemble. And with two models, children could put their fingers in the rotor. Almost all of them are convincing at the lowest level, but clear differences are audible at a comparable fan level.
A total of ten devices were rated "good" and nine "satisfactory". The "Profi Care PC-TVL 30 90O" tower fan only received a "sufficient" rating, but was not able to convince in terms of construction and safety.
There are many good devices among the pedestal fans in particular: The test winner is the "Meaco Fan 1056P" for 170 euros ("good", 1.8). It convinces with a very wide range of air speeds and a pleasant air flow, is quiet and economical. The best desktop device is the "Rowenta VU2730 ("good", 2.4, 80 euros). But the "Meaco Fan 1056" (119 euros) from the preliminary test is better. The best tower is the "Brandson DC motor WDP 304996". for 100 euros ("good", 2.0).
