"James Bond" star Lashana Lynch: She takes on role in Bob Marley biopic

A planned biopic about music legend Bob Marley (1945-1981) is taking shape. As the US industry journal "Deadline" reports, British actress Lashana Lynch (34) will play the role of Marley's longtime wife Rita (76) in the biopic. It has long been known that Kingsley Ben-Adir (36, "One Night in Miami") will play the leading role and Reinaldo Marcus Green (41, "King Richard") will direct the film.

Cinema viewers were able to experience Lashana Lynch in Daniel Craig's (54) farewell performance as James Bond in "No Time to Die" in 2021. The British actress took over the agent number "007" in the 25th part of the film series and acted at Bond's side. She is also on the move in the Marvel Universe - and was last seen in the film "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" with Benedict Cumberbatch (46) as the title hero.

In addition to those responsible for the Paramount film studio, Rita Marley and her family were also involved in the casting process. Marley and her children Ziggy (53) and Cedella (54) are also active as producers. The 76-year-old was married to the musician from 1966 until his death in 1981. A release date for the upcoming Bob Marley biopic has not yet been set. The title is also not yet known.
