Joe Biden: US President may leave corona isolation

US President Joe Biden (79) is no longer in corona isolation. After an initial negative test on Saturday, it was also confirmed on Sunday that he no longer carried the virus. His doctor Dr. Kevin O'Connor announced via the White House Twitter channel that Biden has now also been released from quarantine. "This morning the President's SARS-CoV-2 antigen test was negative for the second day in a row," O'Connor wrote. That's why he will "surely go to public appearances and travel" again.

The first negative test result was already published on Saturday, but added that Biden would remain in isolation. On July 31, it was announced that Biden had again tested positive for corona, having been released from isolation just four days earlier after testing negative twice.

His doctor spoke of a so-called "rebound COVID positivity" that had occurred in a number of patients treated with the drug Paxlovid. Biden also developed mild symptoms such as a cough when he was reinfected, but remained fever-free. The US President tested positive for the first time on July 21.
