Kevin Federline (44) defends the controversial guardianship under which his ex-wife Britney Spears (40) was around 13 years. In an interview, part of which has already been broadcast on British broadcaster ITV, the father of her two children claims that father Jamie Spears (70) "saved his daughter at the time".

After Federline and Britney Spears' marriage ended in 2007, her father came to him and asked for advice. His daughter was bad, but he didn't know how to help. "I saw a man who really cared and wanted everything to be okay," Federline says in the interview.

In another interview snippet, Federline explains that her sons Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden James, 15, have not visited their mother for months. "The boys have decided they don't want to see her right now," Federline explains. According to media reports, the two should not have attended the wedding of Spears and Sam Asghari (28) in June. That was Sean and Jayden's decision, Federline said.

Britney Spears then responded to the claims in an Instagram story. It saddens her "that my ex-husband has decided to discuss the relationship between me and my children". As everyone knows, raising teenagers is never easy. "I gave them everything," Spears continued.

Britney Spears was married to former backup dancer Kevin Federline from 2004 to 2007. After the divorce, he was awarded custody of their sons. In January 2008, the singer barricaded herself in her home with her children. In the same month, Britney Spears was forcibly admitted to a clinic. Her father was appointed guardian by a court. In November 2021, a judge lifted Jamie Spears' guardianship.
