If you do not want to consult a local lawyer right away, you can also look for help on the Internet, for example on legal online portals, so-called Legal Techs.

The legal online portals achieve an adequate result in the overall result of the analysis by the German Institute for Service Quality. In addition to the first-place winner, three other providers achieved good results. On the other hand, more than half of the portals, 10 of the 18 providers, scored worse than "satisfactory".

Big differences in popularity ratings

The following applies to both Facebook and Twitter: the popularity ratings differ significantly for the legal online portals. This is visible, for example, based on the Facebook followers: While a portal can have more than 889,000 fans, four portals have fewer than 1000 followers and two providers are not even present on Facebook. Four legal techs have no or only one English-language account on Twitter - three other portals have fewer than 100 followers here. And: 9 of the 14 online portals with a German Twitter channel have not received a single click of approval within a year.

Mood mostly positive

In 15 of the 18 online portals examined, posts with a positive tone predominate in the one-year study period - but often only just. Three of the providers achieve a negative result - so the negative contributions predominate here. Markus Hamer, Managing Director of the German Institute for Service Quality, explains the benefits of the study: "The mood on the Internet and the social media popularity ratings give interested parties a first impression of the legal online portals. The quality of the service or advice can be cannot be deduced from this, but it can facilitate decision-making."

Ranking of legal online portals

With a good result, Advocado emerged as the test winner from the study. The portal, which is active in various areas of law, scores with a high number of Facebook fans and Twitter followers. On Facebook, the provider recorded a comparatively large number of “likes” during the period under review. In the area of ​​tonality, Advocado achieved the second-best value - the positive posts in social media clearly outweigh the negative ones.

Aboalarm took second place, also with a good result. In terms of popularity, the portal specializing in contract law was one of the best: Aboalarm achieved the maximum number of points in terms of the number of Facebook fans and Twitter followers as well as the "Like" information on these two social media channels.

Airhelp follows in third place (overall result: "good"). The passenger rights specialist combines a very large number of positive posts on Facebook, Twitter, forums, blogs and other websites - in contrast, there are relatively few negative reports and criticism, which ensures the best result in comparison in the area of ​​tonality. In addition, the Facebook presence has the largest number of fans in comparison.
