CLEVELAND, Ohio - Young filmmakers are getting a chance to shine in Cleveland. Hathaway Brown school is hosting its fourth-annual student-coordinated festival, in partnership with St. Edward High School.
Open to all high school students throughout Northeast Ohio, the iMagine Film Festival invites student filmmakers from greater Cleveland to put their imaginations to work and submit their best short films.
Past winners have gone on to some of America's finest film schools, including NYU's Tisch School and the University of Southern California.
"The fact that students are given such an amazing opportunity to not only submit, but also to run and manage this festival in high school is wonderful," says Hathaway Brown senior Emma Picht.
"Over the course of four years, iMagine has become an integral part of our school's community."
Submissions must be no longer than 15 minutes. They will be accepted until March 31, at www.hb.edu/imagine. The festival will be held from 1:30 - 4:30 Saturday, May 13 at the school, 19600 North Park Blvd., Shaker Heights. The fest is free and open to the public.
All finalists will receive constructive feedback from area industry professionals, and film-related prizes will be presented by Ivan Schwarz, President of the Greater Cleveland Film Commission.
"We are very excited for this year's iMagine High School Student Film Festival, and we are looking forward to partnering with St. Edward High School," says Hathaway Brown visual arts department chair Jamie Morse. "Each year, this festival has grown and the quality of student films has consistently improved, and I expect this year will be the best yet."
