A prank involving two Tennessee police officers led to a romantic proposal outdoors a squad auto on Friday afternoon.

Greg Morris, 20, a correctional officer, popped the question to girlfriend Brooklyn Schrupp, 20, after getting pulled more than by the Gibson County Sheriff's Office.

The officers then "arrested" Schrupp ahead of revealing the incident was a joke set up by Morris.

"She loved it," Morris, a Medina resident told ABC News today. "She thought it was a fantastic prank. She took it truly, genuinely nicely and enjoyed it. I wouldn't have carried out it if it was anything she wouldn't have taken well. We're nonetheless laughing three days later ... seeing her laugh is the ultimate aim."

Morris and Schrupp had been high college sweethearts and have been a couple for 4 years.

Morris, a correctional officer with the Gibson County Sheriff's Workplace of Trenton, Tennessee, decided to plan a exceptional proposal with the assistance of the Gibson County Sheriff, Paul Thomas.

Officer Morgan told Schrupp that she had owed funds for a visitors violation and that her license has been suspended. He then placed her in the back of the police automobile, Morris explained.

"The reason why I wanted Morgan, he's exceptionally qualified -- you never ever know if he's content, mad, sad," Morris stated about his colleague. "I stated [to Brooklyn], 'Stay calm. We are going to perform it out.' [Morgan] mentioned, 'Anyone in the back of the automobile has to get cuffed.'"

I know how much he loves his job and my entire household is in law enforcement so it was definitely sweet. I wasn't focused on something else going on about me. I was just focused on him going down on one particular knee."

Samantha Slayton, a friend to Morris and Schrupp and owner of SamSlay Photography, photographed the proposal as it unfolded.

"I feel it came out amazing thinking about Greg functions in law enforcement and Brooklyn had no idea what was going on," Slayton told ABC News. "But it was seriously emotional, I enjoyed it and I assume it turned out excellent. I was honored to be a portion of it."

The couple hopes to marry in 2018.
