Woman killed by train in Little Italy identified

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The 18-year-old woman who died Friday after an RTA rapid train hit her has been identified.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the woman as Victoria Ocejo of Brook Park.

Ocejo tried to climb up on the platform at the Little Italy-University Circle station, police and fire officials said Friday.

The incident happened about 2:15 p.m. at the station on Mayfield Road and East 119th Street.

Ocejo was with a group of people passing out promotional flyers in the neighborhood, investigators said.

The group ran across the tracks and Ocejo was climbing onto the platform when an eastbound train hit her, police said.

The conductor told officials the person "appeared" on the tracks and the driver didn't have time to react, RTA spokeswoman Linda Krecic said.

Investigators are reviewing the video of the crash to determine exactly what happened, Krecic said.
