Child abuse: Lambrecht wants to toughen penalties

the Federal Minister of justice, Christine Lambrecht (SPD) wants to punish sexual violence against children and possession of child abuse with a minimum of one year in prison. "The sentencing must take account of the terrible effects of such actions on the children," said Lambrecht of the "Bild-Zeitung"in the run-up to the presentation of its reform package on Wednesday. Therefore, an increase in the minimum punishment is both useful and necessary. Currently this is in the case of sexual violence against children in six months and the child porn possession in three months.

"Who owns those Videos, you make yourself complicit in the worst abuses of children," reasoned the Minister, the proposed Penalties are also in possession of child pornography. "There is not play-acting, the rapes, and most disgusting of sexual Assaults on Minors are real."

in Addition, the setting procedure will not be "possible, if these acts are classified as crimes," said Lambrecht more. They also announced that the term "child abuse" in criminal law should be abolished. "It sounds as if there is a legitimate ,use of children," she said, and suggested to replace the term with "sexual violence".
