Election in Poland: Can Duda, the President of Poland?

Poland has elected a President; the old, Andrzej Duda, will also be the new. So are, it seems, the Soft for a long time. In three years there will be regular national elections, when a new Parliament is determined. "2023 will be chosen – if at all", joke Polish conversation partner these days. The black Humor is always present: Too often in its history, the poles have experienced some bad Surprises than you could of all people believe 2020 to a normal course of things.

This year, this is the time of the Corona-crisis. At the same time, a time in which the ruling national conservative party PiS and the President of Duda – such comprehensive powers to claim as no one since 1989. You imagine yourself as the ever-proper, which were always taken advantage of. Also your country you can see in the history in this Position (this image may be something there). And because the PiS sets itself and the "true" Poland in one, should this party also more than others to this residue for himself and for the country to compensate for.

To the subordination of the judiciary under the Executive power and the discipline of judges as nothing more than a "poetic justice". That this made public television TVP, contrary to his order, Propaganda for Duda, was justified by "justice": after all, the private media, whether in foreign or in Polish hands, the majority against Duda, because there had to be a counter-weight. Now, the topic of "Repolonisierung" emerges again, the attempt, therefore, private media with foreign owners to buy back or the sharper variant – to organise the market (antitrust)legal new.

The citizens are strong won

Duda has polarized, with a 51 to 49 percent. So, after all, about 500,000 vote lead. A contestation of the election due to serious organizational problems in the electoral authorities, as they announce now that the staff of the candidate Rafał Trzaskowski, but also many citizens, appears to be little prospect of success; especially as government-friendly judges in the Supreme court will deal with it. The fact remains that the citizens – a sign of the times? – strong and mobilized were polarized, and are, resulting in a for Polish standards very high turnout of 68.2 per cent.

Thus, the direct choice front office is overloaded with high expectations. Although the Polish System is the French model is closer than the German. The President can do many things: He can stop with his Veto laws (with the exception of budget amendment to the Constitution). He can tip a big tax reform or a re-privatization law, he can block the appointment of senior judges, generals, ambassadors – all of which have done Dudas's predecessor. He can even contest elections. All of this comes especially to Bear when the President belongs to a different warehouse than the government. Then he can grab, as the passenger in the car, after the hand brake.
