"President Biden has made it clear that the only way to secure women's right to choose is for Congress to pass federal legislation to that effect," the White House said. "Until then, he will do everything in his power to defend reproductive rights and protect access to safe and legal abortion." According to the White House, Biden will sign the government decree this Friday.

The US government also promised to ensure the safety of patients and clinics. The Department of Justice and the White House Legal Department also plan to create a team of attorneys who will provide free counsel or representation for women who face legal difficulties over an abortion.
