The former commander-in-chief of the Russian land forces, General Alexei Maslow, died "suddenly" at the age of 70, according to Russian media. This is reported by the Russian news agency TASS, citing the engineering and defense company Uralvagonzavod. "The management of the Uralvagonzavod concern deeply regrets to announce that today at 08:20 a.m. at the N.N. Burdenko military hospital a death occurred. Alexey Fedorovich Maslov died suddenly at the age of 70," TASS quoted the concern as saying.
The cause of death is unclear. It is also not known for what reason Maslow was treated in the hospital. Maslow served in various positions up to Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Army. For a time he was the Supreme Military Envoy of the Russian Federation to NATO and was awarded many orders and medals. Most recently, according to the company, he worked for Uralvagonzavod.
