Criticism of Russian military: Kadyrov wants to "wipe off the face of the earth" Ukrainian cities

Chechen leader Kadyrov is one of the hardliners in the Ukraine war: he advocates an escalation and criticizes Russia's military leadership. But after massive rocket attacks on Ukraine with numerous civilian victims, he is "100 percent satisfied".

Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov has once again expressed his dissatisfaction with the actions of the Russian military in Ukraine. In his Telegram channel, he criticized Russia's "weak reaction" to the alleged shelling of Russian regions by Ukraine. In a post, Kadyrov, one of President Vladimir Putin's closest confidants, described the hostilities as a "war" for the first time. The Kremlin continues to call the attack on Ukraine a "military special operation".

"We have always said that we are conducting a special military operation on the territory of Ukraine, but the war is already taking place on our territory," Kadyrov said. "And my opinion, if you're interested, is that I'm very unhappy about it."

Since Russian troops invaded Ukraine, military objects in the Russian border areas have been repeatedly shelled. The oblast of Belgorod, which borders on the Ukrainian regions of Kharkiv and Luhansk, is hardest hit. Attacks have increased recently. Last Saturday, two people died and twelve others were injured in a shelling in the city of Shebekino.

According to Kadyrov, Ukrainian cities should be destroyed in retaliation for the shelling of Russian territory. "We have already declared martial law in the border regions, but they do not hesitate to shoot at civilians, destroy social facilities, kill children and the elderly," Kadyrov claimed, without giving any evidence. The Chechen leader criticized that Russia was reacting too weakly. If a projectile hits Russian territory, "we have to erase (Ukrainian) cities from the face of the earth," the 46-year-old demanded: "So that we can see the distant horizon. So that they understand that you shouldn't even think about it, shoot in our direction."

According to Kadyrov, Russia shouldn't worry about the West's reaction. Referring to possible US and EU action, he said: "Everything they could have done, they did. It doesn't get any worse. Will they send their LGBT people to fight with us?" Kadyrov established a dictatorship in Chechnya with the approval of the Kremlin. Abductions and extrajudicial killings of queer people and government critics occur time and again in the republic.

Kadyrov is considered a hardliner in the Ukraine war. After Russian defeats, he repeatedly criticized his country's military leadership. He advocates an escalation of the conflict and, in view of the difficulties facing the Russian army, had called for the use of "low-yield nuclear weapons".

At the beginning of October Kadyrov was promoted to colonel general because of his "merits". Then he appeared appeased. The Chechen people will fully support the policies of the head of state anywhere in the world, he wrote on Telegram. After massive Russian rocket attacks on Ukraine on October 10 and 11, in which scores of civilians were killed, Kadyrov declared that he was now "100 percent satisfied".
