Don't limit hot water: Large majority against gas boycott

A majority of Germans fear that Putin will soon turn off the gas tap completely. In the RTL/ntv trend barometer, only a third believe that Germany will stop deliveries to Russia on its own.

According to the current RTL/ntv trend barometer, 32 percent of Germans - significantly fewer than in mid-May - are still in favor of stopping all gas deliveries from Russia through Germany. 63 percent (13 percentage points) reject such an import ban. The majority of supporters of the Greens (53 percent) are now also against a possible boycott of Russian gas supplies.

However, a majority of 55 percent of Germans believe that Russia will stop supplying gas to Germany in the next few months. 38 percent don't think so. Just under a third of those surveyed (31 percent) are in favor of legally allowing landlords to reduce the minimum temperature in their rented apartments to below 20 degrees in order to save energy. 65 percent reject this.

Opinion is even clearer on the question of whether landlords should be legally allowed to limit hot water times in order to save energy. Only 25 percent of Germans are in favor of it, 72 percent against it.

The data was collected by the market and opinion research institute forsa on behalf of RTL Germany from July 8 to 11, 2022. Database: 1,004 respondents. Statistical error tolerance: /- 3 percentage points.
