"He says the right things": Putin is happy about Deepfake with Chancellor Scholz

After all, in the deepfake, Chancellor Scholz pleases Russian President Putin. In a video, Russian programmers have Scholz say: "We wanted to give up Russian gas. But to put it in the words of a Russian classic: We wanted the best, but it came as always."

Russian President Vladimir Putin had the possibilities of artificial intelligence demonstrated - using a fake speech by Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The state news agency Ria published a short video on Thursday of the Kremlin boss watching the alleged appearance of the SPD politician in Moscow and obviously enjoying himself.

In this so-called deepfake, the Russian programmers first put words critical of America from the popular Russian action film "Bruder 2" into Scholz's mouth. Then they make him say, albeit in a very distorted voice: "We wanted to give up Russian gas. But to put it in the words of a Russian classic: We wanted the best, but it turned out as always." This dictum comes from the former Russian Prime Minister Viktor Chernomyrdin.

"He says the right things," Putin commented on the fake Scholz video. The speech was rich in content and profound. Since Russia invaded neighboring Ukraine nine months ago, Germany has been trying to free itself from its dependence on Russian natural gas.

However, Scholz also said other things in the video that the former KGB agent Putin shouldn't really like: "Well, I believe that the power lies in the truth. The one who has the truth by his side is also stronger , and the one you betrayed has the truth behind it. That means he's stronger."

The real Chancellor Scholz recently said in Berlin that Putin "can no longer win the war against Ukraine on the battlefield, that much seems clear." That's why his appeal to Putin remains: "Stop the senseless killing, withdraw your troops completely from Ukraine and agree to peace talks with Ukraine."
