The House committee investigating Jan. 6 attack met Friday with Kimberly Guilfoyle, one of Trump's closest associates to appear before the panel for closed door testimony -- but it was quickly canceled.

Guilfoyle is a former Fox News personality and was engagedto Donald Trump Jr. on Jan. 6. He spoke at the rally that Trump held near the White House, which preceded the riot at Capitol.

Guilfoyle sent a tweet Friday morning from Joseph Tacopina confirming that she had spoken with the committee. The statement stated that members of the panel had violated the terms of their agreement. Only staff lawyers were allowed to interview them.

According to the statement, "Ms. Guilfoyle under threat of subpoena agreed to meet only with counsel for select committee in good faith to provide true evidence." "But, upon Ms. Guilfoyle’s attendance, committee revealed its trustworthiness as members known for leaking information. Counsel briefly stopped the meeting to discuss the matter. However, our concerns about committee members' presence were confirmed when the committee in less than two minutes released the breaking news to the media.

Tacopina called out Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and "multiple other Members" for "a brazen effort to publicize an obviously bogus investigation". He claimed the members had "only real interest in sandbagging our client and using today's interview to attack President Trump and his supporters."

Previous subpoenas were issued by the committee to obtain phone records relating to Guilfoyle.

The spokesperson for the panel stated that Guilfoyle had provided documents and information relevant to their investigation. The spokesperson for the panel stated that Guilfoyle's refusal to answer questions would "force the select committee to compel [her] testimony at an upcoming hearing."

"The select committee hoped that Ms. Guilfoyle would do the same thing as many other witnesses: take part in a voluntary transcript interview with staff members and committee members." The statement stated that Ms. Guilfoyle had now declined to do this.

Ivanka Trump is the daughter of former President. She is currently in discussions with the committee to and will voluntarily participate in an Interview.

Guilfoyle representatives did not respond immediately to a request for comment.
