Nick Cannon, Mariah Carey Team Up Against The Press, Family Drama Rumors

Mariah Carey just came to her ex-husband’s defense. The controversial diva made an official statement about the rumors the media is spreading about her relationship with Nick Cannon as co-parents of their twins, Moroccan Scott and Monroe.

On Monday, Carey took to Instagram to share her statement about Cannon as the father of their kids. “There’s no validity or truth to the false allegations looming in the press regarding our family. Nick is the father of my children, we will always stand up for each other, have each other’s backs and we will always remain a strong family,” Carey’s post read.

Upon learning of his ex-wife’s statement, Cannon reposted it on his Instagram account and gave a shoutout to the “Emotions” hitmaker. “Salute to the Queen,” he wrote, alongside a praying hands emoji and the hashtag “#FamilyFirst.”

Many of the former couple’s fans quickly left them positive messages for their team-up in the face of trials. One fan assured Carey: “No worries, fake news is a trend. We don’t believe them.” Another fan wrote: “Good for Nick and Mariah for sticking up for their family.”

Carey’s statement comes in the wake of rumors that there is a custody battle that is about to ensue between her and Cannon. Last week, Cannon himself blasted notorious tabloid The National Enquirer for working on a story about his alleged “nervous breakdown” and “erratic behavior” that pushed Carey to petition for sole custody over their twins.

Meanwhile, “America’s Got Talent” judge Howie Mandel was revealed to have begged Cannon to return to the reality talent show following the latter’s exit. TMZ did an ambush interview with Mandel and the comedian admitted that he wants the rapper to continue hosting the show, so he is asking him to return.

Previously, Cannon announced his departure from “AGT” after hearing about NBC’s plan to fire him due to a joke he said on Showtime. “There is no amount of money worth my dignity or my integrity,” Cannon wrote in a lengthy Facebook post of his exit at the time.
