People as trophies: Kadyrov's sons "give" their father prisoners of war

In the war against Ukraine, the Chechen leader repeatedly appears as a hardliner. Now the 45-year-old is showing a video that is supposed to show his three sons after their deployment in the Donbass. The young people present captured Ukrainians to their father.

Chechen ruler Ramzan Kadyrov has published a video on his Telegram channel that apparently shows prisoners of war. In the clip, Kadyrov's teenage sons, Akhmad, Zelimkhan and Adam, along with other Chechen fighters, can be seen presenting three Ukrainian soldiers to their father. In the clip, the prisoners are referred to as "Gift".

Kadyrov wrote about the video that his sons returned to Grozny after an "eventful trip" in the Donbass. During their deployment in Ukraine, they "neutralized" three Ukrainian soldiers. According to research by the RTL/ntv verification team, the detainees are actually members of the Ukrainian armed forces. When and where exactly the video was recorded is unclear.

"I talked to the prisoners. During the conversation I found out that they were among the mobilized," claims Kadyrov. "At the same time, on the other side, they were given neither provisions nor full-fledged weapons."

At the beginning of October, Kadyrov announced that he would send his three sons, aged between 14 and 16, to the war against Ukraine. Ahmat, Zelimkhan and Adam are ready to use their combat skills in the "military special operation," Kadyrov wrote on October 3. The 45-year-old, known for his brutal leadership style, has been a fervent supporter of the war since the Russian invasion began. After several defeats, he had sharply criticized Russia's military leadership and called for consequences.

According to Kadyrov, he is the father of 14 children. However, the media assume that he has other offspring.
