Quiet night around Sloviansk: Kyiv: Russia targets supply line to Sievarodonetsk

The Ukrainian general staff reports little movement during the night. Overall, Russia appears to be focused on attacking a supply line. In addition, the Kremlin gathers tens of thousands of soldiers between Kharkiv and Sloviansk.

According to Ukrainian information, Russian troops have recently advanced to the Bakhmut transport hub in the ongoing heavy fighting in the Donbass. They threatened to cut off supplies to the Sievarodonetsk administrative center. "The enemy attacked in the direction of Vozdvyshenka - Roty, was partially successful and is holding on to the positions taken," the Ukrainian General Staff said in its situation report. The villages are only about ten kilometers southwest of Bachmut. The road from Bakhmut to Sievjerodonetsk can also be shelled with heavy equipment from there.

The fighting for the former city of Sievjerodonetsk, on the other hand, continues without major changes. Russian troops are "still unsuccessfully trying" to gain full control of the administrative center of the Luhansk region in eastern Ukraine, the General Staff said. The attackers were also thrown back in other battles around the city.

In the direction of Sloviansk, another main strategic goal of the Russian military operation in the Donbass, however, calm has returned for the time being after the heavy fighting of the previous days. Active combat operations did not take place during the night, the Ukrainian general staff said. However, the Russian troops had concentrated up to 30 tactical battalions north of the city, in the Sloboshanske area.

From other sectors of the front, the Ukrainians report mainly artillery fire without any active action by the Russian ground forces.
