Since the beginning of the war in 2022: Ukraine reports 100,000 "eliminated" Russian soldiers

Both sides suffer heavy casualties in the Ukraine war. According to Ukrainian information, more than 100,000 soldiers have now been eliminated on the Russian side. The Kremlin is reluctant to provide official information. Last was the language of just 6000 killed military personnel.

According to the Ukrainian general staff, Russia has now lost more than 100,000 soldiers in its war. The Ukrainian military said in a statement that 100,400 Russian soldiers had been "eliminated". According to independent media, this may mean that they were killed or injured so badly that they had to withdraw from military service. The information is not to be verified by an independent party.

Russia had recently spoken of around 6,000 soldiers killed in its own ranks. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu had given the number of 5,937 soldiers killed in September. Meanwhile, independent Russian media have already identified more than 10,000 Russian dead by name.

Ukraine itself does not name its own casualties in daily military reports. The President's Office in Kyiv had recently spoken of more than 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers killed. The warring parties report daily about the "losses" of the other side, which cannot be independently verified, but rarely about killed or injured soldiers in their own ranks.

A few weeks ago, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen irritated her with the statement: "It is estimated that more than 20,000 civilians and more than 100,000 Ukrainian military personnel have been killed so far." The statement was uploaded to Twitter and caused both astonishment and outrage in Kyiv. The post has since been deleted.

Ukraine clarified that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will make official data public "when the moment is right" because it is sensitive information. Presidential spokesman Serhiy Nykyforov emphasized that only the supreme commander of the armed forces, the defense minister or the president can publish reliable figures on the casualties.
