Alpha Tauri team boss makes it clear: Red Bull is not selling the F1 racing team after all

Relief in the Alpha Tauri racing team: According to boss Franz Tost, the Formula 1 team will not be sold by the parent company Red Bull after all. After "good talks" with Oliver Mintzlaff, he denied the rumors that had previously been circulating.

Alpha Tauri team boss Franz Tost has rejected speculation about the sale of the Formula 1 racing team. "I had some very good discussions with Oliver Mintzlaff (Group CEO), who confirmed that the shareholders will not sell Scuderia Alpha Tauri and that Red Bull will continue to support the team in the future," said Tost before the first Grand Prix of the year in Bahrain.

Recently, a media report had caused a stir, according to which the shower company could possibly sell the sister team of the world champion racing team Red Bull around Max Verstappen for cost reasons. "All these rumors are unfounded and the team needs to focus on the start of the season to do better than last year." Alpha Tauri, as the sister team of the world champion racing team, should ideally serve as a springboard for future top drivers. Sebastian Vettel celebrated his first Grand Prix victory in the Alpha Tauri predecessor, Toro Rosso, and world champion Max Verstappen made his Formula 1 racing debut.

The team based in Faenza, Italy, has recently fallen well short of corporate expectations. After the death of company founder Dietrich Mateschitz last year, Mintzlaff was promoted to one of the company's three managing director positions. The former head of the Bundesliga soccer club RB Leipzig is now responsible for Red Bull's sports activities in football, ice hockey and Formula 1, among other things.

"You think about how you can increase efficiency. And when you have one team that wins the World Championship and the other is only ninth place, then the synergies don't seem to work properly," Red Bull Motorsport Advisor said recently Helmut Marko the TV channel Sky. "The overall result is not satisfactory. As prudent business people, our shareholders will make the right decision."
