Bayern star has to go home: Lucas Hernández wants the World Cup from his brother

Theo Hernández was particularly proud of being nominated for the French World Cup team along with his brother Lucas. In the meantime, the brother had to start his journey home injured - but not without expressing a wish.

The injured Bayern professional Lucas Hernández gave his brother Theo a mission before leaving the team quarters of France's national team. "He told me we had to win to bring him the World Cup trophy," said Theo, who curiously has replaced his brother as left-back for the Equipe Tricolore since his cruciate ligament tear in the opening game against Australia (4-1).

But it wasn't easy for him at first. "When I saw that he wasn't doing well, it wasn't easy for me to come into the game," he said of the moment of the substitution. "But I'll do what I have to do so we can celebrate my brother's win."

The AC Milan player said he was proud when he was nominated for the World Cup. "And it was even more special because I was nominated along with my brother. I wish he were still here." Bavaria's record purchase Lucas Hernández has already won the 2018 World Cup. His brother, who is 20 months younger, was not part of the squad in Russia four years ago.
