Sommer had switched from Borussia Mönchengladbach to Munich shortly before the end of the winter break because the record champions had an unexpected need after Manuel Neuer's injury. Sommer now said about his relationship with Neuer: "We see each other almost every day and have very good contact. We already knew each other and often played against each other."
