He wants to reveal who France's world champion Paul Pogba really is, whether he is a "role model for young people" and whether he deserves his place in the national team. This is announced by his brother Mathias of all people on Twitter. Apparently he's blackmailing his younger brother. Kylian Mbappé is also affected.
French soccer world champion Paul Pogba is apparently being blackmailed by his brother Mathias. The 32-year-old uploaded a mysterious video to his Twitter channel in which he read a statement announcing "major revelations". He read out his statement in French, English, Italian and Spanish in order to reach as many people as possible. He is ready to share information about his brother that should interest fans and critics.
A statement from his lawyers, his mother and his advisor said that Mathias Pogba's statements were "unfortunately not a surprise": "There are also threats and attempts at blackmail by an organized gang against Paul Pogba." The authorities in France and Italy were informed a month ago. Therefore, there will be "no further comments regarding the ongoing investigation".
Mathias Pogba, former Guinea international, said: "The whole world, like my brother's fans and especially the French team and Juventus, my brother's team-mates and his sponsors deserve to know certain things". They would then have to decide for themselves "whether he is worthy of being a representative and role model for the youth of the world, for the working class and for the big brands". He even questions whether his younger brother deserves his place in the France national team.
Regarding Mbappé, he added just as cryptically as in his previous words: "Also, I will also tell something about Kylian Mbappé, the world football star, and there will be elements and many testimonies that will confirm my words." The revelations are "probably explosive" and would "make a lot of noise".
French news agency AFP has learned from sources close to the family that large sums of money have been demanded from Paul Pogba to prevent the publication. The midfielder returned to Italian record champions Juventus in the summer on a free transfer after six years at Manchester United. The 29-year-old is currently missing due to a meniscus injury.
Mathias Pogba has played five international matches for Guinea, and during his club career he changed clubs very often, sometimes several times a year. He had stations in Spain, England, Scotland, the Netherlands and Slovenia. Four years ago he completed a trial with the then third division club KFC Uerdingen, but was rejected because his fitness was not right. "Mathias could not have helped the team. He is currently not in good physical condition," coach Stefan Krämer told "Bild" at the time.
Most recently, he played for ASM Belfort in the fourth French division until April, since then he has been without a club. He only recently created his Twitter account, the video is the first post. The family also includes Mathia's twin brother Florentin, who also plays for Guinea. This is currently in use at the Indian first division club ATK Mohun Bagan.
