Moustakas played with five innings at third base and had one hit in 3 at-bats in Triple-A Louisville, but he felt discomfort in his right foot then. He has stopped his rehabilitation assignment and returned to Cincinnati to get additional examination Wednesday.
"I actually don't actually have any more info about this," Reds manager David Bell explained,"but I think that it turns into a longshot to allow him to join us in San Diego now."
Moustakas continues to be around the 10-day injured list since May 20 having a heel injury, which he said included"a tiny partial rip, I figure, from the plantar fasciitis or something like this." He sustained the injury in a street show in Colorado last month after he stepped on first base .
He only started running last week.
