Spanish motorcyclist Carles Falcon died Monday January 15 at the age of 45, a little over a week after the fall that left him in serious condition during the second stage of the Dakar-2024, announced his team, TwinTrail Racing Team.

“Carles has left us. The medical team confirmed that the neurological damage caused by the cardiorespiratory arrest during the accident is irreversible,” the training wrote in a press release.

The driver was the victim of a fall on the 2nd stage of the Dakar 2024 between Al-Henakiyah and Al-Duwadimi, in Saudi Arabia, on January 7. “At kilometer 448 of today’s special [Sunday January 7] at 3:52 p.m., Spanish motorcycle rider Carles Falcon suffered a fall,” announced a press release from Amaury Sport Organization (ASO).

“Immediately notified by a pilot who was following him, the organization dispatched a medical helicopter which took care of the injured motorcyclist in a condition considered serious. He was airlifted to Al-Duwadimi hospital,” ASO said, adding that a full assessment would be communicated “in the coming hours.”
