FCM duped KSC in 33 minutes: HSV slipped up in the goosebumps game in injury time

The game becomes a minor matter a few days after the death of the club icon: After an emotional memorial to Uwe Seeler, HSV loses to Hansa Rostock in injury time and falls back in the table. Magdeburg is enough for half an hour in Karlsruhe, Regensburg jumps to the top.

In the emotional game one after the death of Uwe Seeler, Hamburger SV missed the hoped-for victory for their club legend. HSV lost the hard-fought second division home game against Hansa Rostock 0-1 (0-0). Kevin Schumacher scored in added time (90.4).

The game was all about mourning the death of Seeler on Thursday. The Volkspark, which was sold out with 54,500 spectators, wore black. HSV started with a special jersey. The left sleeve bore the club legend's shirt number "9" and "UNS UWE" was written on the chest.

Wreaths were laid in the center circle before kick-off. The two teams gathered behind a black poster with the inscription: "Us Uwe - athletes. HSVer. Human." The fans also rolled out a banner in the stands: "Loyal and humble - the greatest of all time." There was a huge "Uns-Uwe" choreography. "It was a highly emotional situation," said sports director Jonas Boldt on Sky.

In a hectic game, HSV had more of the game, but didn't manage to put Hansa in serious danger. Especially in a strong second half, Rostock repeatedly put needle pricks, but did not reward themselves at first - until Schumacher scored. This was the first victory for the guests after the 0:1 at the start against Heidenheim. For Hamburg, who started 2-0 winners in Braunschweig, it was a first setback.

On its return to the 2nd Bundesliga, 1. FC Magdeburg scored its first points with a goal spectacle. The newly promoted defeated a desolate Karlsruher SC 3-2 (3-0) in the first half and proved its suitability for the second division despite a shaky final phase. The start was still unsuccessful with a 1:2 home defeat against Düsseldorf.

Andreas Müller (7'), Baris Atik (32') and Moritz-Broni Kwarteng (34') ensured clear conditions before the break, Marvin Wanitzek (63') and Mikkel Kaufmann (65') could only shorten the gap. The KSC made a glaring false start with the second bankruptcy in the second game and a goal difference of 2:8. The Badeners are bottom of the table and have to be careful not to slide into their first crisis early on.

The FCM scored with the first attack, a deflected shot by Müller from the edge of the penalty area slipped into the goal. When KSC seemed to stabilize, Atik and Kwarteng struck ice cold after a fatal back pass from Daniel Gordon. After making a triple change at the break, Karlsruhe improved significantly, scoring a double within 92 seconds.

Two games, zero points: Arminia Bielefeld made a bad start at the start. The relegated team also lost its first home game and, after the 0:3 (0:1) against Jahn Regensburg, has now been without a win for 13 seasons. Der Jahn, on the other hand, is the leader of the table after goals from Benedikt Gimber (45.3), Maximilian Thalhammer (56.) and Minos Gouras (90.1) with six points and a clean sheet.

In a largely uneventful first half, Regensburg had a great chance to take an early lead after Bielefeld goalkeeper Stefanos Kapino played a pass into the feet of Andreas Albers: the Jahn attacker missed the goal from just outside the penalty area (8'). Gimber headed in just before half-time after a precise Nicklas Shipnoski cross.

Arminia came out of the dressing room with more determination, Masaya Okugawa and Janni Serra also created good chances - but the cold shower followed promptly: Thalhammer completed a counterattack with a low shot. Bielefeld didn't give up in front of 18,144 spectators, kept pushing - and was unsuccessful against hard-nosed Regensburgers, also due to his weakness in the end.
