"He will go more into e-sports, play himself and maybe become an e-sportsman," Özil's advisor Erkut Sögüt told the English "Telegraph". The 33-year-old is "really good at Fortnite and it wouldn't surprise me if he competes," said Sögüt.
The former Germany international owns a team - M10 Esports. "And he has players. He has a player forge in Germany," added Sögüt. E-sport, the sporting competition with computer games, is now a global market worth millions.
Özil switched to football in January 2021 for the Turkish giants Fenerbahçe Istanbul after his contract with Arsenal FC was terminated prematurely.
