In return, Seattle sent money concerns to finish the offer. The Mariners announced the transaction early Thursday morning, hours before the series finale in Comerica Park together with the Tigers.

And given the closeness of Cleveland to Detroit, Bauers managed to generate an early drive and also maintain the lineup for Seattle, beginning at first base and batting . Seattle will start a three-game string at Progressive Field in Cleveland on Friday, therefore Bauers will drive back after the match and complete the remaining portion of the transition to some other team.

"Rather than hopping on a trip and moving through that (COVID-19 protocols), I only thought it would be simpler just to sort of push this morning and drive back," he explained. "Obviously, we are headed there directly after the match and I can get everything packaged up and proceed."

Bauers is a good defensive first baseman and his effective at playing field if necessary. But he will likely share time with Ty France initially base till Evan White (hip flexor strain) yields in the injured list.

"He is a natural first baseman, but he's played the outfield too," director Scott Servais said pregame. "He has a fantastic throwing arm. He is a fantastic defender. Obviously, he is a left handed bat and we're bombarded with left handed bats at the moment. But that is exactly where we are now in time. We are going to find some guys healthy, balance it out soon."

In lots of ways, Bauers is a left wing hitting variation of White. Both were heralded prospects which have yet to achieve their hitting potential in the MLB level.

"It takes several players more to figure out it the big-league degree," Servais said. "Sometimes it is a (distinct ) trainer or it is just being in another uniform which may help somehow reverse the switch also allows that player to remove and unwind. It occurs to numerous players each year in our sport. It occurred to me in my own career. You get a chance to play a tiny bit people look at you somewhat otherwise. They view it through another lens and perhaps they could unlock something and that's what we can do with Jake."

He had been projected to possess plus-power potential together with the chance for a nice batting average owing to his swing choices and higher contact rate. However, like most prospects, he'd swing and overlook issues early in the MLB level, hitting out at 26 percent of the at-bats.

"This is actually the game's highest degree," he explained. "It is not simple. It is never simple. And I believe there is still lots of my game I haven't actually figured out yet, I have not figured out the way to automatically interpret it into the big-league degree. So I am just excited to find another chance to sort of do this here. Think it's, I think that it's gonna workout well."

Bauers ended up in Cleveland as a part of a three-team commerce that also included the Mariners. Tampa sent money to the Mariners while Seattle obtained designated hitter Edwin Encarnacion and an aggressive equilibrium B select, where they picked potential Isaiah Campbell. The Mariners traded Carlos Santana into Cleveland.

Bauers spent the whole 2020 year at Cleveland's alternative training website, working on swing shifts executed following the 2019 season. With Bauers being from minor league options and roll moves required, Cleveland decided to part ways.
