Kane injured by runner on hand: NHL "horse" Draisaitl redeems the bankrupt Oilers

The losing streak is over: Thanks to Leon Draisaitl, the Edmonton Oilers are back on the road to success in the NHL. The German ice hockey superstar scored an important goal, scoring in the fifth game in a row. Things are going worse for Moritz Seider.

Germany's ice hockey star Leon Draisaitl has found his way back to success with the Edmonton Oilers in the NHL. After three losses in a row, the Canadians prevailed 3-2 at Tampa Bay Lightning. Cologne's Draisaitl scored the goal to make it 3-1, it was his eighth goal of the season.

Draisaitl has scored a goal in each of the past five games. Lightning coach Jon Cooper gave the German unusual praise. "He's just a horse. He's got the whole package." The match was overshadowed by Evander Kane's injury. The Oilers forward suffered a wrist injury from a skid and had to be taken to a hospital. He sustained a bleeding cut.

Moritz Seider suffered a defeat after three wins in a row. The 21-year-old, who was the first German to win the Calder Trophy for the best NHL rookie last season, lost 3-2 to the Montreal Canadiens after a penalty shootout with the Detroit Red Wings. Seider was on the ice the longest of all players at almost 28 minutes.

Meanwhile, Tim Stützle is still in free fall with the Ottawa Senators. The 20-year-old center convinced with a hit and an assist, but he couldn't prevent the 4-6 defeat against the Vancouver Canucks either. It was the sixth straight loss for the Senators, which dropped them to second from bottom in the Eastern Conference. The other German pros also left the ice as losers: JJ Peterka lost 1:4 with the Buffalo Sabers against the Arizona Coyotes. Goalie Thomas Greiss suffered a clear 5-1 defeat with the St. Louis Blues at the Philadelphia Flyers.
