PORT ST. LUCIE — Kevin Plawecki suffered a contusion to his left knee in the sixth inning of the Mets’ exhibition home opener Saturday, during a collision at home plate with Rafael Bautista. The team sent Plawecki for precautionary X-rays, the results of which weren’t released by the Mets as of early Saturday evening.

Bautista drove his left shoulder into Plawecki’s knee. Plawecki was helped from the field by trainers.

Rookie Logan Taylor pitched two innings of shutout relief for the Mets in their 8-6 exhibition loss to the Nationals. Taylor allowed one hit and struck out one.

Sean Gilmartin surrendered a monstrous solo home run to Bryce Harper in the second inning.

Ty Kelly received a full workout, playing the entire nine innings at three different positions: second base, left field and center field. Kelly is in consideration for a bench spot.
