Paderborn makes it clear: Kaiserslautern can no longer win on the "Betze".

On the 12th matchday of the 2nd Bundesliga, 1. FC Kaiserslautern went down against Jahn Regensburg - and thus extended an unpleasant home series. SC Paderborn, on the other hand, wins again clearly - and increases its goal difference to remarkable heights.

1. FC Kaiserslautern - Jahn Regensburg 0: 3 (0: 1)

Second division promoted 1. FC Kaiserslautern lost after a desolate performance against SSV Jahn Regensburg at home with 0:3 (0:1). In front of 33,060 spectators in the Fritz-Walter-Stadion, the Palatinate were completely out of character at the beginning of the game and were already behind after eight minutes thanks to a headed goal by Andreas Albers.

The visitors could have gone even higher as Charalambos Makridis hit the crossbar in the sixth minute and Kaan Caliskaner (11') hit the post. After that, FCK came into play more and had a few opportunities. With the one-goal deficit at the break, the hosts were still well served. Twelve minutes after the restart it was Albers again, who headed in Regensburg's second goal after a Makridis corner. Substitute Prince Osei Owusu scored the equalizer five minutes before the final whistle.

SC Paderborn - SV Sandhausen 3:0 (1:0)

SC Paderborn lived up to their role as favorites in a duel with SV Sandhausen and climbed onto a direct promotion spot. With the 3:0 (1:0), the East Westphalians now occupy second place thanks to the better goal difference. The gap to the new leader SV Darmstadt 98 is two points after their eighth win of the season. After the liberation against 1. FC Magdeburg, the SVS suffered a setback and fell back to 15th place.

Marvin Pieringer put Paderborn on course early (10th minute), after the break Robert Leipertz (47th) and Jannis Heuer (54th) put their own supporters in a party mood. Another goal by Pieringer was disallowed for being offside. The guests, who had to play without the injured captain Dennis Diekmeier, acted much too harmlessly and could never get the SCP into trouble.

Against SV Sandhausen, Paderborn confirmed their reputation as a goal machine (32 goals). It was the first significant defeat of the season for coach Alois Schwartz's team, who also had to take Alexander Esswein off the field due to injury.

Holstein Kiel - 1. FC Heidenheim 3: 1 (1: 1)

1. FC Heidenheim missed the chance to catch up with the leading trio. In the guest appearance at Holstein Kiel, the team of coach Frank Schmidt had to admit defeat 1:3 (1:1). In front of 9936 spectators, Denis Thomalla (31st minute) gave FCH the lead, but Steven Skrzybski (45th/51st) and Kwasi Wriedt (66th) were able to turn it around. The outstanding Skrzybski took the lead in the league's top scorers list with eight goals and made a decisive contribution to the visitors losing a match after eight games without defeat. Fourth, the FCH is now five points away from the promotion relegation place.

In their 300th second division game, Kiel had more of the game, but were initially unable to take their chances through Skrzybski (17th) and Fabian Reese (26th). Suddenly the guests were in the lead through Thomalla, who pushed Jan-Niklas Bestes Beste's top submission dry. Kiel responded with angry attacks and created good opportunities, but Wriedt (41st) and Simon Lorenz (45th) failed on the crossbar. When the second hit the crossbar, Skrzybski was there in the margin with the well-deserved equalizer.

After the change, Wriedt missed a huge chance when he didn't hit the ball properly before Skrzybski shot in from the turn. Fifteen minutes later, Wriedt decided the match in favor of KSV, who caught up to FCH except for one point.
