Real icon Isco? Isso!: Union is on the verge of a royal transfer

That would be the transfer hammer of the winter: the former Real Madrid star and currently clubless playmaker Isco is to sign a contract with Union Berlin. The players of the iron had recently started the rumors massively.

1. FC Union Berlin is about to make a spectacular transfer. According to information from "Sky", the former Real Madrid star Isco will sign a contract with the Köpenickers on Tuesday. This should be valid until 2024 and contain an option for a further year. There has been speculation for a few days that the Spaniard, who has been without a club since the end of December, will move to the Bundesliga. With Isco, Union would continue to hunt for Bayern. Up to one point, the iron have moved closer to the leader of the table.

Isco, who was last under contract with Sevilla FC, would be by far the most spectacular newcomer to the Unioners, who have only been top-class since 2019, as a 38-time Spain international, five-time Champions League winner, four-time Club World Cup champion and three-time Spanish champion. However, Isco, who had led the Spanish U21 to the European Championship title in 2013, did not last long at his last stop. After just four months, his contract with Sevilla FC – actually valid until mid-2024 – was terminated. There was no official information about the reasons for this.

Most recently, Union captain Christopher Trimmel made direct reference to the rumors with comments on social media after the 2-0 win in the derby at Hertha BSC. "This victory is for you, Isco," the Austrian wrote on Instagram. Isco reacted immediately and commented with a muscle emoji. Some Union teammates also took up the full-back's post. Union President Dirk Zingler said: "If Isco is associated with us then we must have done a lot right. That's a credit to us. It's our second year playing internationally, we're second in the table now, so players are now getting involved too with our club, who didn't deal with us three or four years ago."

Isco moved to Real Madrid from his native Andalusia from FC Málaga in the summer of 2013 and played there until the end of June last year. The attacking midfielder was a teammate of Cristiano Ronaldo and the German 2014 World Champion Toni Kroos.
