Real Madrid vs. Espanyol results: Benzema and Rodrygo win 4-0 to clinch the 35th La Liga title

Real Madrid celebrated their 35th La Liga title victory in front of home fans at Santiago Bernabeu. After a win over Espanyol, Real Madrid clinched the title for the legendary Spanish side. Madrid managed to win the match with a convincing victory despite only needing one point.

Los Blancos now have 17 points advantage over Sevilla, who still have four matches (12 point) to play. Barcelona has five matches (15 point) left.

Rodrygo, the Brazilian winger, was the star of this show. He led Madrid to a comfortable lead by scoring two goals in the first half. On both goals, he converged centrally with his left wing position. He teamed up with Marcelo, his compatriot, on the first goal, and he used Mariano Diaz's ball to win the second. Rodrygo's cool performance on both of these chances was a testament to his 21-year-old age.

The result was clear and the second half became a celebration. Madrid scored two more goals, while Dani Ceballos put on a skill show. Both goals in the second half were scored in transition. Marco Asensio finished the third goal with a masterful finish, and two of the club’s most prominent stars combined for the final strike. Vinicius Jr. and Karim Benzema were both on the bench during the second period, with Vinicius Jr. feeding the Frenchman again for his 26th league goal.

Real Madrid are looking forward to Wednesday's UEFA Champions League semifinal 2nd leg against Manchester City. They have rested several starters before that match. Due to other suspensions and injuries, Casemiro was even used as a central midfielder.

Real Madrid's title victory will create an interesting scenario on May 8. Real Madrid will then visit archrivals Atletico Madrid to be crowned champions. In Spanish football, it is customary for rivals to present newly minted champions with a guard honor. It remains to see if Diego Simeone or the Colchoneros will follow suit.
