Surprising despite the CL bankruptcy: Coach Tuchel is kicked out at Chelsea

Thomas Tuchel is no longer team manager at Chelsea. With his dismissal, the Premier League club is reacting to the weak start to the season and the bankruptcy at the start of the Champions League. The sacking of the FIFA World Coach of the Year comes as a surprise.

Completely surprisingly, Chelsea have fired their German team manager Thomas Tuchel. This was announced by the Premier League club one day after the 0-1 start of the Champions League at Dinamo Zagreb. In the Premier League, the Londoners have three wins, one draw and two defeats after six matchdays, putting the club in sixth place.

The club's new ownership group continued their "hard work" 100 days after the takeover. They are convinced "that it is the right time for this change," said a statement from the London club. This is how the club can move forward.

They want to appoint a new head coach "quickly", until then there will be no further comments. Tuchel won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021 and was named FIFA World Coach of the Year. The 49-year-old also won the Super Cup and the Club World Cup during his tenure. He took up the post at Chelsea in January 2021, having previously coached Paris St. Germain.
