Thomas suffers at the CHIO: Lisa Müller messes up debut, horse "sees ghosts"

A start at the CHIO is the big dream of dressage rider Lisa Müller. This year, the wife of soccer star Thomas Müller can prove herself. But she experiences a terrible ride. Your horse is so impressive against the backdrop that a controlled ride is no longer possible.

Lisa Müller botched her first appearance at the CHIO in Aachen. With her young horse Chuck Bass, the 32-year-old dressage rider competed in a Prix St. Georges and finished twelfth, penultimate. The competition is the international test with the lowest profile of requirements and serves primarily as an entry point into the big sport for younger horses. The two-time German runner-up Frederic Wandres secured victory at the Prix. He won with Quizmaster ahead of Ingrid Klimke with Freudentanzer.

Lisa Müller, wife of national player Thomas Müller, was of course not satisfied with her performance. "I'm disappointed," she admitted, knowing "how much quality" her Chuck Bass actually has. But the young horse was impressed by the gigantic scenery in Aachen. "A controlled ride was out of the question," said Thomas, who was present at his wife's biggest start to date.

Chuck Bass was "very scared" especially on a short side in the arena, as Lisa Müller observed. "There was tension and so many mistakes happened." But she didn't want to interrupt her debut at the CHIO. She saw her performance as a test and lesson for the young horse to get used to the larger arenas. Because she has big ambitions, she definitely wants to come back to Aachen for the world's largest horse show and show that things can be done better. Because she is convinced of that. "If Chuck doesn't see any ghosts, then we can ride up front." At least for the smaller exams.

While his wife had to deal with the disappointment, Thomas Müller enjoyed the unfamiliar role and surroundings. As a "player's wife" he feels comfortable, joked the FC Bayern footballer. He also has a bag with him when riding, it contains everything you need: "sugar, towel and fly spray." So far, the Müllers have only attended the CHIO as spectators, this year the rider was nominated for the first time.
