Villarreal vs Rayo Vallecano - La Liga Preview and Lineups

These two clubs have seen a lot of change since then. The club that was once in lower division is now in the European spots we want in La Liga. We are currently eleven points behind them, but we have a game in our favour and are now at the point where a win streak would be a good idea if we want to make up that gap. Our Opponents Rayo's position in the table for expected goals is a bit iffy. They average -0.2xG per 90. This is tenth in La Liga and a substantial gap from Villarreal's. If you only take out their first two matches against Sevilla and Real Sociedad, then they rise to +.24 per 90. This is better than Valencia and us. They have been really good. This one is not going to be against Radamel Falcao, although Alvaro has scored five goals and Oscar has seven assists, so there's plenty of danger out there. Villarreal Unai Emery provided a template to his roster against Atalanta. Gero Rulli was kicking the ball long every chance, the team played counter-attack, and Danjuma, Gerard, formed an extremely lethal pairing up top. We can slice through La Liga with this style of play if he sticks to it. Unai has also heavily rotated in this game. Although very few of these players started against Atalanta I feel confident in the majority of them. I find it most concerning that Parejo, Iborra and Trigueros are all on the pitch together. That midfield has been unbelievably slow. We are in for another frustrating afternoon if we return to kicking it six yards at a given time. Although I don't know what Samu Chukwueze must do to make a start, his ideas and pace will be greatly appreciated in this endeavor.
