Can that work?: This toothbrush should clean perfectly in ten seconds

Y-Brush is an electric toothbrush that looks like its name. This should enable her to thoroughly clean all her teeth in just ten seconds and at the same time protect her gums.

Normally, for a thorough cleaning, you should brush your teeth for about two minutes. Although this is not a small eternity, it still takes a lot of people too long, which is why they clean less or sometimes leave it completely. That shouldn't happen with the Y-Brush electric toothbrush because, according to the manufacturer, it cleans the entire set of teeth in just ten seconds - even in inaccessible areas.

Can something like this work? Apparently, because the French company presents satisfied customers on its website and is already presenting the third generation of the Y-Brush at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

The functional principle is obvious: Similar to the molds that dentists use to take impressions of the teeth, the Y-shaped brush head encompasses all the teeth of the upper or lower jaw. Inside are 35,000 nylon bristles that vibrate, powered by a motor in the handle.

According to the manufacturer, the Y-Brush removes even more plaque than a conventional toothbrush without damaging the gums. This is said to be because the bristles are positioned at a 45 degree angle to the teeth. This is recommended by dentists, writes the manufacturer. Another advantage for children, but also for people with physical disabilities, is the simple operation.

Even if the Y-Brush is actually that good, the prices could possibly make users prefer to reach for the conventional toothbrush. The entry-level model costs 80 euros, for a children's model you have to shell out 100 euros, for the premium version with four different intensities (5, 10, 15 seconds) and toothpaste applicator 130 euros. The brush heads of the Y-Brush are particularly expensive, costing 35 euros each.
