Updates announced: Whatsapp bundles group chats in communities

Whatsapp introduces communities to bring more order to group chats. In them, users can group several related conversations under one main topic.

A new Whatsapp feature is designed to make it easier to manage and use group chats. The function, called communities, allows several group chats to be bundled under one main topic. As an example, the Meta subsidiary cites a community for the local school with group chats for individual classes or a community for a neighborhood - divided into areas of interest.

The tab for new communities can be found at the top of the screen on Android and at the bottom on iOS. Once you're in a community, you can easily switch between existing groups. Admins can send important updates to everyone in the community.

The communities will be rolled out with updates in the coming months. With them, Whatsapp introduces three other new features: the ability to create polls in chats, make video calls with up to 32 people and create groups with up to 1,024 users.

As well as emoji reactions, larger file sharing, and the admin delete option, these features can be used in any group. According to Whatsapp, they should be particularly helpful for communities.
