A self-suicide in Afghanistan has killed at least seven people. The number of civilian casualties in the country has reached a high level.

In a self-suicide in Afghan capital of Kabul, several people have been killed. The exact number of victims is still unclear. The police speak of at least seven dead and fifteen injured. The Ministry of Rural Development, which is located directly at end of attack, said that at least six people were killed and twelve were injured.

The explosion occurred when many officials left ministry building in evening. According to a police spokesman, assassin detonated an explosive vest.

For second time, authority became target of an attack in a short time: On 11 June, an assassin had blown up and killed 13 or people. The so-called "Islamic State" had become known to attack. No group has yet been known about recent attack.

Number of civilians killed reaches new high

The number of civilians killed in country last reached a peak: according to United Nations, more than 1,600 uninvolved persons were killed in first half of 2018 – one percent more than in same period last year. They died in course of air raids, suicide attacks or bombings. In year 2017, a total of 3,438 civilians were killed in Afghanistan according to UN data.

Because of tense situation, deportations of Afghan nationals to ir country of origin are controversial. However, federal government had decided in June to abolish restrictions on deportations. This week, a 23-year-old man killed himself in Kabul after being deported from Germany. Federal Interior Minister Horst Seehofer (CSU) had initially hailed man's deportation as a success, but expressed his dismay at death of man.
