Travis Mills, director of "Treasure Valley", stated in a Facebook posting that although there was no official cause for death, it "appears like it was a heart attack."
Mills wrote in the post, "As so many people know, Jay was an amazing man." He was kind, sweet and generous. It was an honor to work with him. He was one the greatest actors I have ever worked with. Everybody who had the chance to meet him could feel his warmth and his amazing spirit, even if only for a moment. It is hard to find the right words to express more. "His closest friends said that he was happy to make Treasure Valley, and I hope that this is true."
