The 'reboot' of saved by the bell has rendered homage to Dustin Diamond. The actor who gave Screech's life in the original series died last February because of a cancer.
His companions in fiction have wanted to remember him on the small screen. They have done it on an emotional scene in the continuation of fiction, whose second season premiered on November 24 on the US Platform Peacock.
The first episode of this batch shows that a year has passed since the end of the first season. At one point Slater (Mario Lopez) asks Jessie (Elizabeth Berkley) if she is going to The Max. He points out that the only way to overcome difficult situations is together.
The two come to the restaurant, where an original gang meeting occurs, as they share a table with Zach (Mark-Paul Gosselaar), Kelly (Tiffani Thiessen) and Lisa (Lark Voorhies). The local owner, Max (Ed Alonzo), offers them the new dish of the menu. It is a hamburger that bears the name of Screech.
The character played by Diamond did not participate in the first season of the 'reboot', but his companions mentioned that he was at the International Space Station with his robot, Kevin. Precisely the latter is the one in charge of serving the food at The Max to the protagonists.
Slater comments after trying the hamburger: "It's a bit rare, but great." Lisa adds: "A little like Screech". Everyone starts to remember fun anecdotes they shared with their friend. "It was very fun," says Jessie. Fiction rescues a few of the best moments of the character in the original series.
Tracey Wigfield, 'Showrunner' of the continuation of saved by the bell, announced that in the second season they wanted to pay a tribute to Dustin Diamond. She explained in Variety that she did not know the actor, but she wanted to do something else for the fans that "put a picture of him at the end".
"I would have been wrong not to show it in a real way and not have our original characters keeping mourning for this character that we can never see again, I wanted to show that on the screen, but I wanted to make sure we were the most sensitive we could. He was a person Real with people who loved him, you do not want to make jokes or talk about him so that someone can hurt someone, "he said.
