Anne Hathaway won an Oscar in 2013 for her role in Les Misérables. Instead of congratulations, the actress was showered with hate comments. At the "Women in Hollywood" event of the US "Elle" she remembered the difficult time.
"Ten years ago I was given the opportunity to look at the language of hate from a new perspective," said the 39-year-old, adding: "It was a language I had spoken to myself in since I was seven years old old was." In the meantime, however, she gives "no more room" to negative energies.
Anne Hathaway is confident that others can follow her learning process. "The good news is that hatred is learned and those who have learned it can continue to learn," she said. She hopes the haters "give themselves a chance to learn love again." At the end of her speech, the actress emphasized: "You don't have the right to judge someone for it, and certainly not to hate that they exist." Instead, try to be happy for others. "Be especially happy for women who achieve a lot. It's not that difficult," she encouraged the audience.
Anne Hathaway fans can also look forward to it. On October 28th her new film "Times of Upheaval" celebrates its premiere in the USA. It can also be seen in German cinemas from mid-November.
