Alsace, Burgundy... The most welcoming French regions unveiled

The online accommodation reservation site Booking has awarded its Traveler Review Awards 2023. In France, three Alsatian towns top the ranking of the most welcoming cities for tourists, relays Le Bien public. The region has been designated, for the fourth time in a row, as the most welcoming in France, according to the online booking site. This ranking aims to reward the owners of the highest rated accommodations in 220 countries based on more than 240 million user reviews.

The three Alsatian towns that top the list for France are Kaysersberg, Eguisheim and Riquewihr. Two other cities in the region rank in the top 20: Ribeauvillé (6th) and Sélestat (15th). If Alsace is acclaimed, other territories are also welcomed, such as Hauts-de-France and Burgundy which appear in the top 3 of the platform's list. Among the 20 most welcoming cities in France, we find Gaillac (Tarn), Saint-Émilion (Gironde), Moustiers-Saint-Marie (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence), Saint-Aignan (Loir-et-Cher), Camiers (Pas-de-Calais) or Noyers-sur-Cher (Loir-et-Cher).

In the world ranking, France comes in third place among the most welcoming destinations in the world, with 103,364 awards obtained for its accommodation, behind Italy (170,638 award-winning establishments) and Spain (108,217). The town of Polignano a Mare, located in Italy, ranks first. This town is particularly known for its transparent waters. The city of Hualien, located on the east coast of Taiwan, occupies the second position in the ranking, ahead of San Sebastian in Spain.
