Bammental (dpa / lsw) - In the search for the cause of a house fire in Bammental (Rhein-Neckar-Kreis) with a dead person, the police, according to their own statements, rule out arson for the time being. The fire probably broke out in the kitchen on the ground floor and spread to the upper floor via the stairwell, the police said on Friday. It's still unclear how the fire in the kitchen started.
The 37-year-old son of the dead man was able to free himself from the burning house on Sunday before the fire brigade arrived, but suffered serious injuries. The 60-year-old mother was found dead in the attic of the semi-detached house. Two other residents of the adjacent house suffered from mild smoke inhalation.
