Baden-Württemberg: Alliance calls for demonstration "Solidarity Autumn".

Nationwide, people want to take to the streets - against inflation, energy prices and the climate crisis. Several thousand participants are expected in Stuttgart.

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - In view of price increases, the energy and climate crisis, a social alliance has called for a rally in Stuttgart this Saturday (12 p.m.). Under the motto "Solidarity through the crisis. Real redistribution now!" should be demonstrated for more cohesion, social justice and an end to fossil dependence. DGB country chief Kai Burmeister said in advance: "We expect the state to provide targeted relief for people with small and medium-sized incomes."

Specifically, the DGB boss called for a state subsidy for housing benefit, a suspension of daycare fees, free school meals, a waiver of the semester fee for students and a support bonus for vocational school students. In addition to the DGB, the nature conservation association BUND and the parity association have also called. Several thousand participants are expected in the Baden-Württemberg state capital alone. At demonstrations in six cities across Germany, the organizers are assuming a total of 20,000 participants.

In addition to targeted help for people with little money, a redistribution via higher taxes for the rich and at the same time a more consistent energy transition are required. The organizers explained that social and ecological change should be considered together and not played off against each other.

The alliance is sharply demarcated to the right. The organizers declared that they were opposed to division and hate speech. They emphasize solidarity with Ukraine and expressly do not oppose the sanctions against Russia. They reject a return to cheap gas imports from Russia.
