Baden-Württemberg: collective bargaining agreement for metalworkers also approved by employers

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The wage agreement in the metal and electrical industry in Baden-Württemberg is finally signed and sealed. The head of the Südwestmetall employers' association, Joachim Schulz, announced on Thursday in Stuttgart that the Members' Council had accepted the collective wage agreement with no dissenting votes. He spoke of a "viable compromise". The large collective bargaining committee of IG Metall had previously agreed. There had been occasional criticism of the deal on the part of the union.

In mid-November, IG Metall and employers had reached a collective agreement for the German metal and electrical industry. For the 3.9 million employees in the industry, wage increases of 5.2 percent by June 2023 and another 3.3 percent from May 2024 were agreed for a period of 24 months. In addition, there are tax-free one-off payments totaling 3,000 euros.
